Ongoing Events

1. Haze: Coming Soon (Activist Art Exhibition) @ RexKL (5 – 14 May, 11 am – 8 pm)

As temperatures rise nationwide, haze pollution is sure to follow. Since 2021, Greenpeace Malaysia has been spearheading their campaign for clean air, intensifying efforts to combat haze pollution caused by Malaysian-owned companies involved in open burning. 

This year, Greenpeace Malaysia is teaming up with Studio Birthplace and Splash & Burn to mobilize the public through an art activist exhibition titled “Haze: Coming Soon.” The exhibition takes place from May 5th to 14th at RexKL and brings together artists, filmmakers, and activists to raise awareness and spark conversations on the urgency of haze pollution and the need for action.

2. Feeling Feelings Makes Me, Me (Solo Art Exhibition) @ Temu House (6 – 28 May)

‘Feeling Feelings Makes Me, Me’ by Nadirah Zakariya is a well-worn open diary; a heart on a fluffy pink gingham sleeve, and an adorned love letter to anyone who can relate.

Featuring close to 40 artworks/pieces that range from framed photography prints, lightboxes and a video piece, ‘Feeling Feelings Makes Me, Me’ (FFMMM) will mark Nadirah’s biggest show to date, albeit it being her third solo showing. Officially scheduled for public viewing on 6th May 2023 (Saturday), the exhibition will run until 28th May 2023 (Sunday).

3. Edelweiss Weekend Unwind 2023 (Weekend Party) @ Rooftop Garden, Lalaport KL (Every Weekend from 4 – 28 May, 3 pm – 10 pm)

Come on down and experience life the Edelweiss way with art, music, games and so much more happening on a stunning rooftop garden from 3.00 pm onwards for two weekends (Thursdays to Sundays) from 4th – 28th May at Lalaport KL, and Penang’s Hin Bus Depot from 2nd – 4th June.  

The weekend offers programs packed with pop-up markets, workshops, music and experiential events headlined by homegrown scene-shakers. Plus, the entrance is free.

Edelweiss Weekend Unwind will be collaborating with Pingmin Market (平民市集) in Lalaport and Hin Market at Hin Bus Depot, offering a unique opportunity to explore local culture and artisans.

4. Of Spaces Between (Art Gallery) @ Zhan Art Space, PJ (15 April – 15 May, 10 am – 5 pm)

This April 2023, art fans across Klang Valley will be given the opportunity to experience the concept of duality when they visit Of Spaces in Between, an exhibition hosted simultaneously at two gallery spaces – Hin Bus Depot, Penang, and at ZHAN Art | Space, Petaling Jaya.

Curated by Penang-based artist Ivan Gabriel, the exhibition will feature 24 artists, each of whom has created two different but complementary artworks based on the theme ‘duality’, to be displayed in the two spaces respectively.

4. Euro Fun Park (Fun Fair) @ Dataran Open Carpark, 1 Utama (31 March – 28 May, 7 pm – 12 am)

Experience the thrill of Malaysia’s largest travelling amusement park – the much-anticipated Euro Fun Park at 1 Utama! From 31 March to 28 May 2023, this travelling fun fair will keep you entertained all night long from 7 pm to 12 am daily with endless rides and games. So, mark your calendars as this is an event you definitely don’t want to miss!

5. The World Of Tim Burton (Exhibition) @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil (21 March – 30 July, 10 am – 10 pm)

For the first time in Southeast Asia and the last stop in Asia – The long-awaited ‘The World of Tim Burton’ Pop-Up Museum is finally here at Pavilion Bukit Jalil! 

Featuring numerous talented works from Tim Burton’s early stages of sketches and drawings to the talented artist’s most recent projects of puppets and life-sized sculptures used in his film work, you’ll be sure to step into an incredible experience like no other!

Tickets are priced at RM88 per pax but they have discounts for kids, seniors, students and OKUs. For more details, visit here.

6. One Piece Asia Tour Exhibition @ Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, Resorts World Genting (23 March – 8 May, 10 am – 10 pm)

For 47 days, the biggest, largest and first-ever One Piece Exhibition in Southeast Asia is happening here in Malaysia.

Fans will get to enjoy an incredible 45 to 90-minute tour around the 21 Iconic Zones which will showcase the series’ iconic scenes from Luffy’s adventures from the series in a 25,000 square feet layout. Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

7. Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Total Concentration Exhibition @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil (18 Feb – 18 May, 10 am – 10 pm)

Demon Slayer is a well-known Anime and has a massive fan following in Malaysia. This exhibition is a definite treat to fans as it brings you into the world of anime as soon as you enter the exhibition.

Step into an experience like no other, immerse yourself in some of the memorable scenes and become part of a Demon Slayer Corps at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Level 2, Pink Zone.

8. The World Of Nickelodeon Malaysia (Kids Cartoon Carnival) @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil (28 April – 23 July, 10 am – 10 pm)

Are your kids a fan of Nickelodeon’s cartoons? This carnival is the perfect place for families to bring their kids and have a fun time together with 17 interesting stations and tonnes of photo opportunities set up over 14,000 square feet.

You’ll even spot characters from shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dora the Explorer, and Bubble Guppies so bring your kids for a fun day at the carnival!

12 May (Friday)

1. Jaki-Brashga Presents Our Worlds (Debut Indie Band Concert) @ PJPAC (12 May,8.30 pm)

Malaysian indie supergroup Jaki-Brashga is set to ignite the music scene this Friday night with their debut concert, Our Worlds: A Live Experience.

Comprising some of the best musicians in the independent music scene, Jaki-Brashga is bringing their electric blend of experimental folk-rock music to the stage for a night of musical exploration designed to give audiences a closer, introspective look at the human experience.

Audiences can expect big waves of Post-Rockesque guitars in overdrive, funky bass lines and hard-hitting drums in synth-laden soundscapes.

2. Just Jokes: Headliner’s Night (Comedy Show) @ The Ark Event Space, Sri Hartamas (12 May, 8 pm)

It’s just jokes:’ 2nd Headliners’ Night! The biggest names in comedy take the stage to deliver side-splitting sets that leave the audience in stitches.

From witty one-liners to hilarious anecdotes, these comedians know how to bring the laughs. With a lively atmosphere and a diverse lineup of talent, their Headliners’ Night is a must-see for any comedy fan looking for a night of non-stop entertainment.

3. Back To Y2K (Weekend Market) @ Central Market (12 – 14 May, 10 am – 8 pm)

Central Market is taking you back to the Y2K, back when the coolest things were in store! Come and experience the best of what ‘Back To Y2K” has to offer this weekend.

From vintage and thrift items to arts and crafts, you’ll take a walk down memory lane here at Pasar Seni this weekend.

4. The Joke Factory: Extreme Expats (Comedy Show) @ The Joke Factory (12 – 13 May, 8.30 pm)

The Joke Factory presents Extreme Expats on the 12th and 13th of May 2023. With a diverse set of performers, they’ll surely tickle your funny bone with their jokes about the cultural differences between their country and ours.

Get your socks knocked off with Yash from India, Firas from Libya, Justin Heyes from the UK and Aaron Aw in the lineup. Bring your friends and family for a comical night out.

5. Czech Impressions (Orchestra) @ Pentas 1, KLPAC (12 – 14 May, 8.30 pm, 3.00 pm)

Under the helm of its Music Director and Resident Conductor, Lee Kok Leong, the KLPAC Orchestra launches into its 2023 season with the dreamy “Czech Impressions”, featuring music from Czech Romantic composers Antonín Dvořák and Bedřich Smetana.

Treat your ears to a magical symphony of instrumental music this weekend with your loved one. It’ll surely be a romantic date for those orchestra lovers.

13 &14 May (Saturday & Sunday)

1. Ramli Sarip Syair Timur (Concert) @ Dewan Philharmonic Petronas (13 May, 8.30 pm)

DFP will glitter again with legendary musical gem, Datuk Ramli Sarip who is back with songs from one of his most prolific albums, Syair Timur.

Come and immerse yourselves in the distinctive vocals of Malaysia and Singapore’s beloved Papa Rock, serenading the audience with his deeply poetic songs, enriched with a tantalizing blend of middle eastern influences, local traditional sounds and rock/blues flavour. A night of extraordinary sound, music, and memories not to be missed!

2. Konsert Satu Suara Vol. 3 (Concert) @ Mega Star Arena, Sungei Wang Plaza (13 May, 8.30 pm) [Line Up: Siti Nurhaliza, Jay Jay, Ernie Zakri]

After 8 years, Malaysia’s number 1 pop singer, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza will be performing live again for her Konsert Satu Suara: Volume 3.

This time around, she’ll share the stage with the legendary singer Jay Jay who will perform nostalgic songs from the 70s and the emerging star Ernie Zakrie who will perform songs from this era.

Besides that, the profit from this concert will also go to fund Siti’s and her husband’s charity foundation, called Yayasan Nurjiwa. So for those fans of Tokti, grab this chance to watch her perform live this Saturday night at Mega Star Arena.

3. SoundLoud Project (Concert) @ The Paddock, PJ (13 May, 4 pm)

Atas Angin presents their upcoming concert, the SoundLoud Project! With 7 bands in 1 day, they’ll promise you the Loudest experience you will have this 13 May at The Paddock, PJ.

From ‘Gadis Italia’ by Da Vagabonds to ‘Antara 2 Darjat’ by Iqbal M., you’ll surely have one memorable night, that’s for sure!

4. Talk Cock Sing Song (Comedy Show) @ Tiffin At The Yard, Sentul Depot (13 May, 8 pm)

Featuring the hilarious Russell Curtis and Nat Kang, and hosted by the one and only Prakash Daniel, this musical comedy show is sure to be an unforgettable experience! From witty jokes to hilarious parodies, these comedians know how to tickle your funny bone while you tap your feet to the beat!

5. Dance With Endless Possibilities (Dance Workshop) @ Reka2 Workshop Space, GMBB (13 May, 11 am – 2 pm)

Presented by The Scoliosis Girl Krystal and Dua Space Dance Theatre, this is a FREE inclusive workshop for the physically different community to experience dance and seek the opportunity to form an integrated dance group in the future.

Krystal believes that music and dance are beneficial to the healing of our souls. She hopes that people with disabilities may have equal rights to experience the freedom and joy of self-exploration through dancing.

Dua Space is expanding its focus beyond wheelchair dance, sharing dance with a wider range of disabled communities, and promoting the integrated dance idea to the general public.

6. Pop Up Bazaar Pasar KL (Weekend Market) @ My Naturi, Chinatown KL (13 & 14 May, 11 am – 8 pm)

Pasar KL is a group that does pop-up markets at My Naturi, Chinatown. From appetizing food, trendy clothes and handmade crafts, support our local brands and small businesses by stopping by Chinatown KL.

7. Green Carnival (Enviromental-themed Carnival) @ KL Tzu-Chi Jing Si Hall, Kepong (13 – 14 May, 10 am – 6 pm)

Let’s paint the town green this May!

This all-vegan/ vegetarian carnival will feature food, products, talks and demos specially created for the plant-based community. Thinking of going vegan or vegetarian? Then come and browse around the carnival this weekend.

Don’t forget to carry your own bags and containers to help minimize the wastage. As for the food, just a head’s up, it will all be egg, onion, and garlic free.
