1. The Sound Of Music (Musical Theater) @ Istana Budaya (27 Dec – 15 Jan)
All the way from broadway, catch a chance to see the classic musical, The Sound Of Music with both broadway and Malaysian (playing the 6 Von Trapp children) casts.
Enjoy the classic tunes Do-Re-Mi, A Few Of My Favourite Things and So Long Farewell among others, live at Istana Budaya for three weeks only.

2. Big Bad Wolf (Book Fair) @ MIECC (20 Dec – 2 Jan, 10 am – 2 am)
For two weeks only, BBW is back howling with up to 95% discounts on books! They also have more promotions and contests for you guys. They have over 3.5 million books including children’s books, romance novels (wink wink), self-help books and many more.

3. The World Of DC Exhibition @ Tropicana Gardens Hall Convention Centre (23 Dec – 1 Apr)
Being the first-ever DC Exhibition launch in Asia, The World Of DC Exhibition will feature interactive games, life-seized exhibits, behind-the-scene concept art, limited-edition merchandise and more at the Tropicana Gardens Mall.

4. Avatar: Way Of Water Installation (Light Installation) @ Lot 10 (14 Dec – 2 Jan)
Have you watched the recent cinema-craze Avatar: The Way Of Water? It’s a sequel we’ve waited 13 years for! Movie buffs will surely want to catch this science fiction currently showing in cinemas.
For fans of lights and the film Avatar, go get your OOTD shots at the Avatar: Way Of Water light installation right in front of Lot 10 mall. The installation is only going to be there for two weeks until 2 January, so don’t miss out!

5. Nijigen Expo @ Tokyo Town, Pavilion Bukit Jalil (22 Dec – 1 Jan)
Dear Anime lovers! If you love cosplaying, you should head on to the Nijigen Expo at Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Apart from Christmas sales and presents, they also have a cosplay runway, anime figures, cosplayer meet & greet, GK exhibition and many more.

6. Van Gogh Alive Exhibition @ Pavillion Bukit Jalil (17 Dec – 16 March, 10 am – 10 pm)
Witness Van Gogh’s legendary works of art displayed digitally at Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Get ready for a multi-sensory experience with a symphony of light, colour, sound and fragrance for you there.

7. ParkCity Year End Light Festival @ Desa ParkCity (1 Dec – 5 Feb)
Don’t know where to go ‘lepak’ or take good pictures at night? Try going to Central Park at Desa Parkcity. Their light installations are inspired by the Nordic lights so you can experience a bit of some Aurora-Borealis-inspired views on weekends from 8 pm – 9 pm.
They also have tons of other amazing light installations from The Waterfront to around Central Park. This is a great place to bring your date out on a scenic stroll at night.
The Christmas installation will be there until 28 December while the light installation will be there until 5 February.
8. Five Elements – A Handicraft Fair @ GMBB (16 Dec – 3 Jan, 11 am – 8 pm)
This fair celebrates the art of handicraft and the five elements, earth, fire, metal, water and wood. There will be multiple exhibitions, clay workshops, tattoo workshops and more.

9. Great British Circus (Circus) @ Plaza Arkadia, Desa ParkCity (19 Nov – 1 Jan, 5.30 pm & 8.30 pm)
If you’re into circus shows (humans, not animals), you should try and have a look at the Great British Circus show. They’ve been touring places in Malaysia and this Christmas time, they’re putting on shows at Desa ParkCity.

10. Red Hongyi’s ‘Once Upon A Longtang’ (Art Exhibition) @ National Art Gallery (22 Dec – 22 March, 9 am – 5 pm)
The Balai Seni Negara has a new art installation called Once Upon A Longtang which features scenes inspired by old alleyway houses – or ‘Longtang’ houses in Shanghai. The installation has a series of artworks displayed with burnt Chinese calligraphy paper and more.

29 December (Thursday)
1. Kugiran Masdo X The ChangeCuters (Concert) @ Zepp KL (8 pm)
If you dig Masdo’s 60s vibes, then you wouldn’t want to miss out on their concert this Thursday at Zepp KL. They’re known for these songs: Teruna Dan Dara, Bunga, Dinda & Janji Manis.
They’re also performing with the Indonesian rock & roll band, The Changcuters.

2. Dancebox December 2022 (Dance Show) @ KLPAC (29 & 30 December, 8 pm)
From Bharatanatyam to contemporary dance, watch both established and emerging Malaysian dancers perform in 8 different dance performances from a range of genres at KLPAC this Thursday & Friday.

30 December (Friday)
1. Un, Dos, Tres Party New Year Market (Market) @ Central Market (30 Dec – 2 Jan, 10 am – 8 pm)
Shop cute items and ‘joget’ your way into the new year with live DJ sessions by Disko Santan and a good lineup of buskers at Central Market this new year.

31 December (Saturday)
1. Grand Wave New Year Countdown 2023 (NYE Concert) @ Surf Beach Sunway Lagoon (6 pm)
Celebrate the new year with hits from international and local artists at Sunway Lagoon. The lineups include Alan Walker, R3hab, Mariana Bo, Havana Brown, Ray Ray, Joe Flizzow, Sonaone, Yonnyboii and many more.

Enjoy the new year’s countdown with beats from the rapper Travie McCoy at Zepp KL.

3. NYE Special Zainal Abidin (NYE Concert) @ The Bee, Publika (8 pm)
Popular Malaysian singer Zainal Abidin, formerly of Headwind and later carved a stunning solo career with hits such as Hijau and Puteri, will perform live this New Year’s Eve at The Bee, Publika.

4. Convergence by Afterlife (NYE Party) @ RexKL (8 pm)
Party along this New Year to sick electronic beats from a variety of DJs and enjoy mesmerising audio-reactive light show and visuals!

5. Spring Couplet Stamping Workshop (Workshop) @ GMBB (11 am – 7 pm)
Under the Five Elements: Senses Art Fair, you should indulge yourself in the festive Chinese New Year spirit by going to a spring couplet stamping workshop at GMBB.

6. New Year Festival @ City Of Elmina (31 Dec & 1 Jan, 4 pm onwards)
Celebrate New Year with your family and friends at Elmina Central Park in Shah Alam. There will be food trucks, game booths, a flying fox, various scenic venues and many more.

If you’re looking for a place with illuminating lights at night, then i-City Shah Alam is the place to be. They’re celebrating the new year with fun games and food bazaars too.

1 January (Sunday)
1. Rising Festival (Concert) @ Angkasa Event Space, Cheras (3 – 11 pm)
Come and watch 15 local and talented bands performing live at Rising Festival this 1st January!

2. Indie Alliance (Concert) @ Zepp KL (5 pm)
Enjoy Malaysian indie music in a concert at Zepp KL on New Year’s Day. The lineups are Gerhana SkaCinta, Joanna & Co, The Times, Naratu, Tilu and Armpunk Syndicate.

3. Cat-Planter-Pot Pottery Workshop (Workshop) @ GMBB (1 – 3 Jan, 2 – 4 pm)
Unleash your creative pottery skills with this pottery workshop. You’ll be making pots but in the shape of your cat! The workshop is priced at RM190 for two hours.

4. Beach Pool Club Xmas Splash Party @ Discovery Park, Gamuda Cove (11 am till late, Every Sat)
Enjoy street Latin dances such as salsa, mambo and rumba, rhythm-thumping beats from DJs, a famous 90’s throwback dance show and fire-eater performances at the Discovery Park’s Beach Pool Club every Saturday this December.
