PAS communications director Hishammuddin Abdul Karim said the Terengganu state government would provide about 200 buses to ferry outside voters back to the state for polling day.

Hishammuddin denied claims that PAS was dependent on outside voters to win in the 15th General Election (GE15) and said the buses provide people with the chance to go home and vote, regardless of their party alignment.

According to The Star, he added that it’s up to outside voters if they want to change their polling centre.

The claims that we are too dependent on outside voters are not true because the voters are not only (those who support) PAS but also our fellow competitors. It is the state government’s initiative and not just PAS. We don’t ask them which ‘flag’ they are supporting. The most important thing is for them to come back and vote, that’s the government’s job.

On another note, Hishammuddin said PAS Terengganu will be training young candidates to lead the nation.

PAS isn’t the only one providing a way for voters to get back to their hometowns to vote.

Since the date of GE15 has been set, several organizations have organized themselves to help get voters home by paying for flights for tertiary students or providing free public transport.

Candidate nominations have been closed on 5 November and GE15 falls on 19 November.

The Perlis, Perak and Pahang state polls will be held simultaneously with GE15.
