What’s in a name?
When your name is Najib or Mahathir, you’ll get a lot of attention, especially during general elections (GE).
More so if you are twins, as is the case with two siblings from Jempol, Negeri Sembilan.
The twins’ name was given by their father, Nor Kaferi Ahmad, 59, who was in the army.
At that time, Datuk Seri Najib Razak was the Minister of Defense (1991–1995; 1999–2004), while Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was Prime Minister (1981 – 2003; 2018 to March 2020).
Berita Harian reported that friends often made fun of them because of their names.
But they never took it personally; instead, they enjoyed it as friendly banters.

Boys Will Be Boys
Mahathir, 27, said that when they were children, the two of them used to fight.
It bothered both parents, but it lessened as they got older.
The father didn’t expect he would be getting a pair of twins before he got the idea of ​​naming them after Dr Mahathir and his protégé-turned-enemy Najib.

Coincidentally, the twins have the same interests and activities.
After completing SPM in 2012, Najib and Mahathir applied for a job at a marketplace in Dungun, Terengganu.
They got the job, but they became the butt of jokes at the workplace, as people would announce that Najib and Mahathir had come to work.
Unbelievably, a new worker named Anwar later joined them, causing much ‘uproar’.

Somehow, Anwar stopped working after a day, while the twins worked for one month before switching to jobs in the oil and gas industry.
Mahathir and Najib have yet to meet their ‘Siti Hasmah’ and ‘Rosmah Mansor’, respectively.
They are still single and agreed to hold a marriage ceremony together when the time comes.
