Malaysian society is still a largely superstitious lot. While this trait may or may not save a lot of us from potential dangers, it gives property agents a headache.

This is why when a property agency had to sell an alleged “haunted” house, they had to take extra steps to assure potential customers.

The KL Selangor Lelong Properties Facebook page recently shared they had hired a paranormal research team to investigate whether there’s a haunting at a property in Klang.

It was alleged that the previous owner of the property committed suicide.

In the statement allegedly made by the paranormal research team, they “certified” that the house has no “major signs of ghostly activities at the time of observation (30/05/2023 21.00-24.00).”

The team also explained the flickering lights might be due to faulty cables while the doors opening and closing may be due to the wind.

As for the eerie sounds heard, it might be due to wild animals in the area.

The team added that further investigations would require a small laboratory to be set up at the location for 15 days.

The house allegedly has a market value of RM2.4 million but it’s auctioned for RM1.4 million. The property is also in a gated community and residents have access to the clubhouse facilities.

Netizens suggest improvements to the investigation

Netizens were amused by the statement which bore two Ghostbusters logos from the films.

A netizen jokingly thanked the team for sharing that there were no “major ghostly activities,” but did not rule out “minor ghostly activities.”

Meanwhile, netizens suggested the research team observe the haunting for a longer period until 3am. One of them said the timing is when negative energy is the strongest according to Chinese beliefs.

Another person chimed in to say the observation should be extended for 15 nights and not 15 days.

Aside from giving suggestions to the paranormal research team, some netizens didn’t mind having an extra companion in the large home.
