Local radio announcer DJ Yoon recently bought herself a new car but it was stolen in a matter of minutes just 78 hours after purchasing it.

Yoon posted the video showing the moment her MPV, which looked like a Toyota Vellfire, was driven away by the thief with no one the wiser.

Yoon explained on Facebook that she was dining at a restaurant with her husband on 6 March and they parked the car across the road somewhere in Petaling Jaya Section 17.

However, they discovered the car had gone missing as they were about to leave. They requested the restaurant’s CCTV footage and saw their new car being driven away.

It only took a minute or two for the thief to drive away like they owned the car.

Yoon added that they had been planning to install an anti-theft lock and GPS system this week but unfortunately, the car went missing before they could do so.

The police informed her that MPVs like hers are often stolen. Yoon said she’s considering getting a strong steering wheel lock to prevent similar incidents in the future.

She urged everyone to be careful and to ensure their vehicles are equipped with a good anti-theft system.

Unfortunately, some people think it was a prank and said Yoon would be fine because she has lots of money.

For those who claimed she had her car stolen for “views and clicks,” she wished them well.

To those who see other people’s misfortunes as a joke, I hope you stay healthy and safe.

Based on the speed of the incident, speculations about the way the thief did it were rife. Netizens believe the thief has a spare key to the car since he gained entry into the vehicle in a split second.

Others believe the white car parked in front of the MPV was an accomplice with equipment capable of unlocking the MPV’s doors and that helped the thief to gain access.

A netizen also advised others to buy a brake lock instead of a steering lock for better security for their vehicles.
