Astro Sparks Festive Joy With Local And International Premieres This Deepavali

Astro ushers the festive season of Deepavali with an extensive lineup of exciting local and international premieres and three new channels on TV, Astro GO and On Demand.

As part of the festivities, all Malaysians can also look forward to more Deepavali specials on digital platform Astro Ulagam, RAAGA radio and on e-commerce site, Go Shop.

Astro customers on Indian Favourites and Maharaja Packs can enjoy three new top Tamil channels, Sun News (Ch 215), KTV (Ch 216) and Sun Life (Ch 217) from 13 October 2022, on TV and Astro GO, offering more popular Indian shows such as hit movies, comedy clips from films as well as news, sports, politics updates, music shows, and more.

These new channels will replace Chutti TV (Ch 213), which will no longer be available from 13 October 2022.

Astro customers can enjoy these premiering local Deepavali specials on Astro Vaanavil (Ch 201):

  • cooking shows Oh My Bakery and Thala Deepavali Virunthu;
  • variety musical show Azlagu Kutti Chellam
  • telemovies including drama Narai Vantha Piragu and musical comedy Kutty Pattass
  • game shows, Kutty Pattass Ragalai and Singa Pennin Deepavali Gallata
  • the top short films from ‘Ulagam Short Film Contest’ including Yekkam, Patti Moochu Ninnu Poche, Vandhanaa and more.

Customers can also enjoy the Singaporean live variety show, Amarkala Deepavali 2022.

Cooking show, Oh My Bakery.

More local Deepavali specials will premiere on Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202), including game shows, Pattas’U Badep, Paramapatham and Pattas Jodi Game Show; drama telemovie, Pattas Jodi; comedy sketch, Kamedi TV; and variety show, Unggal Viruppam.

Customers can also look forward to Deepavali favourites from India such as:

  • Entertainment show, Zee Tamil Samrajiyam; comedy fantasy film My Dear Bootham; and horror film Katteri, on Zee Tamil HD (Ch 223).
  • Drama film Koogle Kuttappa; and action thriller film Ayngaran, on Colors Tamil HD (Ch 222).
  • Reality show Bigg Boss Season 6 (Tamil) on Star Vijay HD (Ch 221).
  • Biographical drama Rocketry: The Nambi Effect on Colors Hindi HD (Ch 116).
  • Comedy drama film, Fuffad Ji on BollyOne HD (Ch 251).

Additionally, Astro customers can share their Deepavali greetings on TV from 23 to 25 October, via Astro Vaanavil (Ch 201) and Astro Vinmeen (Ch 202) through WhatsApp at 0133445453 or by scanning the QR code on TV screens.

Customers can also enjoy a captivating Deepavali song, Inaivom Inaippom, on TV, RAAGA radio and Astro Ulagam’s social pages.

Drama and romance film, Gajen

All Malaysians can look forward to premiering horror comedy web series Kanna Murukku Thinna Aasaiya and enjoy special Deepavali AR Filters on digital platform, Astro Ulagam. Movie buffs can also look forward to the premiere of big screen action, drama, romance film, Gajen, in cinemas nationwide from 24 November 2022.

On the radio front, Malaysians can look forward to streaming a RAAGA TikTok Live Deepavali celebration launch on 11 October, 8pm featuring Ahila and Suresh as well as a special performance by popular local talent, Shane Xtreme along with opportunities to win exclusive prizes.

Listeners can also surprise their loved ones with special classic and personal Deepavali cards by submitting their request via RAAGA-vin Deepavali Parisu on raaga.syok.my as well as look forward to fun Deepavali GIFs and a greeting video, RAAGA-vuden Deepavali by announcers on RAAGA’s social media pages.

In conjunction with the Deepavali celebrations, Go Shop is airing a Deepavali special live show every Monday and Tuesday at 1pm on Astro Vaanavil (Ch 201) from now till 18 October.
