Anti-vaxxers recently tried to make a mountain out of a molehill by spreading lies that a local teenager in Melaka had gotten sick and collapsed from taking the Covid-19 vaccine.
In truth, the kid was just scared, tired and a lil malnourished.
The Melaka Health Department issued a statement responding to viral videos of a 12-year-old primary school student who had fainted at a parking lot outside the community vaccination centre (PPV) in Klebang on 30 September after having walked in to be inoculated.
The clip showed the teen going limp while the adults around him panicked before a RELA officer came and carried him away to get medical attention at the PPV.

The teen was given a proper health checkup and kept around for observation for 30 minutes. Medical personnel stationed at the PPV determined that the kid’s vital signs were normal before he was sent home and a later phone call to the kid’s family determined that he was fine and active.
Apparently, the kid had gone to bed late the night before his vaccination – around 2 in the morning to be exact – and only had a spoon of Nasi Lemak for breakfast.
Health workers also didn’t find any underlying health problems or anything out of the ordinary with the youth’s medical history. The kid doesn’t even have any allergies and has never been admitted to a hospital before.
So to all the parents and guardians out there, please make sure that your kids get enough rest and are well-nourished before attending vaccinations.
