Have you switched to RFID?

Touch ‘n Go RFID tag lets you enjoy the convenience of balance top-up through the Touch‘ n Go eWallet, anytime and anywhere.

You can also set the automatic top-up function via Touch ‘n Go eWallet to have sufficient balance at all times.

What is RFID?

A contactless and cashless transaction, RFID has been touted to reduce congestion at toll plazas.

The implementation of RFID is in line with the Malaysian ITS Blueprint (2019-2023) introduced by the Works Ministry.

With RFID, road users can enjoy a smoother non-stop journey in dedicated lanes with a speed of 30km/h.

It can also be topped up via Touch n Go eWallet without having to visit the top-up counter.

Starting 15 January, RFIDs are accepted across the entire North-South Expressway.

Advantages of RFID

RFID features fast scanning, barrier-free read penetration and large data memory capacity.

Here are some of the benefits of RFID:

  • A smoother and easier ride at the toll plaza
  • Cheap price tag
  • Add value online through Touch n Go eWallet which is more secure, easy and fast
  • Does not require batteries
  • No need to go to a top-up centre
  • There is no additional charge for top-up

How To Check Balance & Topup RFID Online

Touch ‘n Go RFID payments are deducted from your Touch‘ n Go eWallet.

You can easily top up the Touch n Go eWallet for RFID use.

But for those of you who use several RFIDs, you need to first check the vehicle ID tag registered in the eWallet.

As a guide, please check your TNG Ewallet apps as follows:

  • Open the Touch n Go Wallet app.
  • Your eWallet balance will be displayed.
  • Press the “Toll” button in the middle segment.
  • There are 3 options that appear, “TNG Card”, “PayDirect” and “RFID”. Select RFID.
  • Your vehicle information and ID tag number will be displayed.
  • Make sure the information is the same as the vehicle you are registering.
  • Top-up according to the desired amount.

There’s No Such Thing As Perfect Technology

The implementation of RFID for road users in Malaysia has not been without hiccups.

Among the problems are faulty tags that could not be detected, leading to massive congestions.
