80s Singer Rohana Jalil Dies

Popular 80s singer Rohana Jalil passed away last night at the Chancellor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

She was 68.

Harian Metro reported that she passed away at 11.33pm with her husband and children by her side.

Originally from Johor, Rohana or her real name Dara Abd Jalil was known for hits such as Rayuanku and Naluri Cinta, among others.

She leaves behind husband Jahangir Khan, children; Rosella, Shakira Idora and Kilafairy, and grandchildren.

The singer was hospitalised since Ramadan this year for a leaky gut and had undergone surgery.

She was stable previously but her health was reported to have declined and she was unconscious since noon yesterday.

Rohana started singing in the late 70s and carved herself a spot in the local entertainment industry when she won first place in the 1981 Bintang RTM singing competition.

Shakira Idora, on Instagram said prayers for her mother would be held at the USJ9 Al-Falah Mosque after Zohor today. Rohana would then be laid to rest at the USJ22 Muslim Cemetery.
