GWM Unveils Flagship Ora Good Cat With New Features At Malaysia Autoshow 2023

At the recent Malaysia Autoshow 2023, Great Wall Motor (GWM) unveiled fresh perspectives of its popular flagship Ora Good Cat.

The electric hatchback, which was launched in November last year, caught the eyes of many visitors.

Just like its name, the Ora Good Cat features a design that may look simple at first glance but is actually sleek and unique.

The Coral Blue Ora Good Cat was parked in a camping set up and displayed a dynamic body kit and a rooftop cargo box, demonstrating the adaptability of the fully electric car for both city driving and outdoor experience.

Although both these cars may seem to have a feminine vibe, but eventually they grow on you. The sleek and attractive design does not just stop at the exterior but also apparent in the interior.

The car’s cockpit has a neat and fine suede leather finish with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a seven-inch multi-information display that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.

There are two variants that was launched for the Malaysian Market. The 400 Pro and the 500 Ultra. Both have the same powertrain setup, which consists of a single electric motor driving the front wheels and produces 143 PS and 210 Nm of torque.

According to Paultan.org, the Ora Good Cat reaches 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 152 km/h.

The 47.8 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery is used in the 400 Pro model and provides a range of up to 400 km on the NEDC cycle (around 20% less on the WLTP test methodology). It requires eight hours to fully charge from a 6.6 kW AC outlet using a Type 2 connection.

A 0-80% state of charge is achieved via DC rapid charging in 46 minutes. In approximately 40 minutes, 30-80% of the charge can be completed.

The 500 Ultra uses a 63.1 kWh version of the larger battery, a ternary lithium battery that provides a range of up to 500 km on the NEDC cycle and charges completely in around 10 hours using an AC outlet. Using DC fast charging at 60 kW, a charge from 0% to 80% may be completed in around 40 minutes.

The 400 Pro has a price tag of RM139,800 on the road excluding insurance while the 500 Ultra has a price tag of RM169, 800 on the road excluding insurance.

There’s an ongoing Purr-fect sales package, which offers a free home charger, an extended warranty plan, and other benefits. The incomparable package includes: free portable and home chargers; an 8-year/180,000-kilometer warranty on the power battery, electric motor, and motor control unit; a 5-year/150,000-kilometer warranty on the vehicle; and five free labour occasions (service maintenance) without further cost.
