The police had detained three Singaporean men, believed to be connected to the disappearance of RM3.17mil from a money changer in Johor Bahru two years ago, reported The Star.

The first suspect, aged 54, was detained when he entered Malaysia via the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex, for a holiday with his family.

The authorities were alerted by the man’s identity when he presented his passport at the CIQ, before he was handed over to the police who subsequently managed to track the other two suspects, aged 48 and 49, who are also in Johor Bahru.

All three suspects are businessmen in car-dealing operations, the report added.

The police are also on the look for a Malaysian national who is also involved in the 2 March 2020 heist.

According to the report, the suspect and his co-workers are transporting the money to a bank before he staged a chest pain and duped his co-workers to return to their office for his heart medication before he fled with the company’s bulletproof car containing the money.

The suspect abandoned the company vehicle at Danga Bay, where has was believed to divide the loot with the other three Singaporeans.

Johor Commercial Crime Investigations Department chief Asst Comm Amran Md Jusin refused to comment further on the matter aside from confirming the arrest of the three Singaporeans.
