Ongoing Events

1. Feeling Feelings Makes Me, Me (Solo Art Exhibition) @ Temu House (6 – 28 May)

‘Feeling Feelings Makes Me, Me’ by Nadirah Zakariya is a well-worn open diary; a heart on a fluffy pink gingham sleeve, and an adorned love letter to anyone who can relate.

Featuring close to 40 artworks/pieces that range from framed photography prints, lightboxes and a video piece, ‘Feeling Feelings Makes Me, Me’ (FFMMM) will mark Nadirah’s biggest show to date, albeit it being her third solo showing. Officially scheduled for public viewing on 6th May 2023 (Saturday), the exhibition will run until 28th May 2023 (Sunday).

2. Edelweiss Weekend Unwind 2023 (Weekend Party) @ Rooftop Garden, Lalaport KL (Every Weekend from 4 – 28 May, 3 pm – 10 pm)

Come on down and experience life the Edelweiss way with art, music, games and so much more happening on a stunning rooftop garden from 3.00 pm onwards for two weekends (Thursdays to Sundays) from 4th – 28th May at Lalaport KL, and Penang’s Hin Bus Depot from 2nd – 4th June.  

The weekend offers programs packed with pop-up markets, workshops, music and experiential events headlined by homegrown scene-shakers. Plus, the entrance is free.

Edelweiss Weekend Unwind will be collaborating with Pingmin Market (平民市集) in Lalaport and Hin Market at Hin Bus Depot, offering a unique opportunity to explore local culture and artisans.

3. Euro Fun Park (Fun Fair) @ Dataran Open Carpark, 1 Utama (31 March – 28 May, 7 pm – 12 am)

Experience the thrill of Malaysia’s largest travelling amusement park – the much-anticipated Euro Fun Park at 1 Utama! From 31 March to 28 May 2023, this travelling fun fair will keep you entertained all night long from 7 pm to 12 am daily with endless rides and games. So, mark your calendars as this is an event you definitely don’t want to miss!

4. The World Of Tim Burton (Exhibition) @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil (21 March – 30 July, 10 am – 10 pm)

For the first time in Southeast Asia and the last stop in Asia – The long-awaited ‘The World of Tim Burton’ Pop-Up Museum is finally here at Pavilion Bukit Jalil! 

Featuring numerous talented works from Tim Burton’s early stages of sketches and drawings to the talented artist’s most recent projects of puppets and life-sized sculptures used in his film work, you’ll be sure to step into an incredible experience like no other!

Tickets are priced at RM88 per pax but they have discounts for kids, seniors, students and OKUs. For more details, visit here.

5. The World Of Nickelodeon Malaysia (Kids Cartoon Carnival) @ Pavilion Bukit Jalil (28 April – 23 July, 10 am – 10 pm)

Are your kids a fan of Nickelodeon’s cartoons? This carnival is the perfect place for families to bring their kids and have a fun time together with 17 interesting stations and tonnes of photo opportunities set up over 14,000 square feet.

You’ll even spot characters from shows like SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dora the Explorer, and Bubble Guppies so bring your kids for a fun day at the carnival!

20 & 21 May (Saturday & Sunday)

1. Kira Con Festival (Anime & Cosplayers Festival) @ Quill City Mall (26 – 28 May, 11 am – 10 pm)

Attention all anime and cosplay enthusiasts! You’re invited to join them at Kiracon Festival, happening from 26-28 May at Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur. Get ready for a weekend of non-stop fun with exciting activities like the Cosplay competition, Skit Competition, and Cosplay competition (Kids Edition). Whether you’re a seasoned cosplayer or just love dressing up, there’s something for everyone at Kiracon Festival.

2. Out Of The World Water & Music Festival @ Sepang International Circuit (26 – 28 May, ) [Line Ups: HXA, Chuckiess Whackboi, Jovynn, Nahsyk, etc]

Spread over a minimum of 2 acres of land, “Out of the World” is the first of its kind in South East Asia, one of the largest Water and Music Festival in the world. “Out of the World” Water and Music Festival features a variety of attractions designed to entertain visitors of all ages. From bouncy inflatable waterpark attractions to an energy-packed concert by your local and international artists, this is the place to party!

3. The Music of Star Wars (Orchestra) @ Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (27 & 28 May, 8.30 pm)

Join the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for a monumental Star Wars Day celebration as they present symphonic highlights from the famed film series.

From the very first release in May 1977 of “A New Hope” to the present day “Mandalorian”, they’ll relive over 4 decades of intergalactic travel and the unforgettable antics of your favourite characters! Featuring the music of John Williams and Ludwig Göransson, conducted by Gerard Salonga.

4. Theatresauce’s They All Die In The End – Play (25 – 28 May @ KLPAC)

Thosai at funerals. Unspoken words of love. Missed calls from Amma. Unwritten letters to Appa. Five men reflect and interrogate what it means to be Malaysian and Indian – in the past, present and imagination.

They All Die At The End is a brown boy fantasia that tells the story of love, family and identity. What does it mean to be a Malaysian Indian man in 2023? What did it mean to be one in the past? What does it mean to love, to exist and to live as a brown man?

5. Jumpa Jam @ Central Market (19 – 21 May, 10 am – 8 pm)

It’s time to jump, groove and pound to the beat at Jumpa Jam!

You’ll get to jam to the latest tunes at the Silent Groove Jam, party with two of Malaysia’s hottest DJs, meet your favourite influencers, and sweat it out at the first-ever silent pound fit classes.

Capture all the excitement with the 360 camera and challenge yourself with the 16-step Jam Slam activities. Plus, don’t miss out on the weekend market where you’ll find amazing food, clothes, accessories and more!

6. MooMazing Food Festival @ Bukit Jalil Stadium (26 – 28 May, 10 am – 10 pm)

At the Moomazing Food Festival, food takes centre stage and they’ve got a great selection of food and drinks that will tantalise your taste buds.

They’ve also got a fantastic lineup of entertainment planned for the event. Prepare to be dazzled by a spectacular performance featuring the acrobatics of the “Greatest Showman” and the high-energy moves of the “Rebels Cheerteam”.

7. The Back Ground Sessions @ RexKL (27 May, 8pm)

The Back Ground Sessions is REXKL’s monthly live music showcase where they invite established and up-and-coming musicians from across all genres to perform in an intimate, stripped-down live setting.

Liesl-mae, Leaism, and Hawa are three of the most exciting artists in the local music scene and now you have the opportunity to catch their live performances for free at The Back Ground Sessions this 27th May from 8 pm onwards.

Admission is free.

8. Pingmin’s Crossover Market (Weekend Market) @ Lalaport Rooftop (27 – 28 May, 12 pm – 9 pm)

Pingmin market is a weekly market event that moves to various places and is ever-evolving based on the event. This week, they’re having their Crossover market at Lalaport’s Rooftop Garden.

Browse for handmade items from more than 130 local brands, take a look at shiny crystals, munch on some delicious snacks and have fun at this cultural and creative weekend market.

9. Cheers! Indulgence Pop-Up Market @ The Square, Jaya One (27 – 28 May, 3 pm – 11 pm)

For the first time ever, bazaaresque is having their drinks & snacks boozy night! Bring your bestie out and have a chill night at their curated cocktail party! You don’t wanna miss out on all the delicious kimbap, viral cheesy fries, unique tuak cocktail and more at their Cheers! Indulgence Pop-Up Market!

10. Re-Love Market & Messy Heart Market @ Awegallery, Taman Paramount & Kedai KL, Mahsa (27 – 28 May, 10 am – 8 pm)

Y’all got no plans this weekend? Fret not cause The Messy Club is having two pop-up markets happening at the same time from 10 am – 8 pm in two different venues located in Petaling Jaya!

11. GMBB’s School Holiday Activities @ GMBB (27 May – 4 June)

Kickstarting the range of school holiday activities in GMBB this weekend are:
– Back to Nature Art Workshops by The Rojak Projek and Cucuk Tanam
– Fun Planet Family Days
– Biar Pete Bersuara by GERIMIS

From nature art to performances and game stations to exhibitions and talks, there is something for everyone this weekend!

Throughout the entire school holidays, GMBB will also have a child-friendly programme by the Museum of Picture Book Art (MOPBA), where you can fill your time with batik and tote bag painting, storytime, and even sketchbook design throughout the week.

To herald the end of the school holidays, you can look forward to a groovy boogie-filled Magical Groove Pop-Up by The Messy Club and Art Attack by Unsura Studios. With all the colourful festivities coming, it’s good vibes guaranteed.
