First Ever M Badged BMW EV Vehicle Launched In Malaysian Market

It has a top speed of 225km/h with 544 hp and 795 Nm of torque.

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) is an automotive brand that is proud for engineering luxurious and thrilling vehicles.

Recently, at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 which was organized by MARii (Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute), BMW launched a series of all-electric vehicles. 

The first ever BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupe electric vehicle was one of the highlight in the BMW’s EV launch.

The BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupe is the first M-badged electric vehicle and the first to enter the Malaysian market while laying the groundwork for the nation’s future of exhilarating sportiness that is both sustainable and responsible.

Just like how BMW always nails it in all the details of the car, the interior and exterior design of the car reflects the style and rawness of the brand. 

The BMW i4 M50 comes with great features as standard. Some of them are the M Aerodynamics package, M rear spoiler in body colour, and black rear diffuser insert serve as examples of the car’s athletic personality.

In the interior, the car is equipped with some M brand features as well such as the M interior trim with Carbon Fibre trim finishers, M Anthracite Headliner, and M Sport seats.

For BMW fans, if you are worried of missing the fundamental element which is the roar of the car, worry no more as the dynamic “M” engine sound is recreated by the BMW IconicSounds Electric, which makes for a very emotional experience.

This vehicle packs an astonishing 544 hp and 795 Nm of torque which is produced by the dual motor from BMW M eDrive, each at the front and rear axles. This setup makes it possible to enjoy all-wheel drive in an incredibly dynamic way.

Peak torque is accessible in Speed Boost mode. With such power the car is claimed to reach 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 225 km/h

A sizable 83.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack fuels the drivetrain. The i4 M50 can travel up to 510 KM (WLTP) with an average consumption rate between 19 and 24 kWh/100 KM, according to BMW.

When it comes to charging, the BMW i4 M50 is compatible with both standard AC and quick DC inputs, the former of which can deliver up to 200 kW and the latter up to 11 kW. While DC fast charging at 200 kW offers 10 to 80% charges in 31 minutes, charging at 11 kW via a dedicated wallbox completes full charges from 0 to 100% in 8 hours and 15 minutes.

Additionally, the advanced safety systems included within the vehicle are Acoustic Protection for Pedestrians, Active Protection for Pedestrians, Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant.

All this goodness, exciting performance and exhilarating engineering comes with a starting price of RM430,800 excluding on-road costs. 

However, the price quoted includes an 8-year or 160,000 KM separate EV battery warranty, a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage, a free planned maintenance programme, and other benefits.
