Fujifilm will be launching the all-new X-S20 mirrorless digital camera in Malaysia on 29 June 2023.

The X Series of mirrorless digital cameras are known for their compact and lightweight body and superior image quality based on the company’s proprietary colour reproduction technology.

Here are some of the product features of the Fujifilm X-S20:

1. Improved autofocus (AF) and tracking capabilities

The AI-based subject-detection AF, developed with Deep Learning Technology, automatically detects an intended subject and keeps it in focus.

This allows users to focus on shutter opportunity and framing. The evolved AF prediction algorithm enables stable focusing even in the AF-C mode.

The new Auto Subject Detection function automatically detects a subject and tracks it while keeping it in focus to produce high-quality stills and videos.

2. High image quality and high-speed image processing engine

The X-S20 comes equipped with the back-illuminated 26.1MP sensor “X-Trans CMOS 4” and the high-speed image processing engine “X-Processor 5” to produce high-quality images while keeping power consumption lower than the previous model.

The camera comes with 19 Film Simulation modes including “Nostalgic Neg.,” characterized by high saturation and soft tonality. The Film Simulation presets can be used for various subject types and scenes.

3. High-capacity battery and high-performance IBIS mechanism

The X-S20 features the signature large grip for hand-holding stability while keeping the body compact and lightweight at just 491g.

The high-capacity battery, NP-W235, has more than doubled the number of frames to approximately 800 compared to the previous model.

The extended battery life means users can keep shooting for prolonged periods without worries such as during travels or all-day shooting.

The camera’s five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) mechanism offers up to 7.0-stop advantage. This makes it easy to shoot hand-held at night or in low-light conditions.

The X-S20 is also perfect for self-portraits as it’s equipped with a 2.36-million-dot EVF with 0.62x magnification and a 1.84-million-dot rear LCD monitor with the vari-angle structure, which can be positioned in a range of angles.

4. 6.2K/30P video recording

The X-S20 can record 6.2k/30P 4:2:2 10-bit video internally and supports extensive video functions including 4k/60P and 1080/240P capability.

The camera also features F-Log2 for recording video in the expanded 13+ stop dynamic range for enriched tonality, providing freedom in post-production creativity.

When combined with an ATOMOS HDMI device, RAW video output from the X-S20 can be recorded as 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW at resolutions up to 6.2K and frame rates up to 29.97fps.

When combined with Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G, RAW video output from the camera can be recorded as Blackmagic RAW at resolutions up to 6.2K and frame rates up to 29.97fps.

5. New Vlog Mode

The camera features a 3.5mm microphone/earphone jack for high expandability despite its compact and light body.

Users can easily switch to the new Vlog Mode with a turn of the dial.

The camera can also be turned into a webcam by plugging it into a computer using a USB-Type C cable without having to use software such as Fujifilm X Webcam.

The Film Simulation modes are also available during live streaming or online meeting. The shooting settings can be adjusted even while the camera is connected to a computer.

New FUJINON Lens XF8mmF3.5 R WR

Fujifilm is also launching the Fujinon Lens XF8mmF3.5 R WR (XF8mmF2.5 R WE) in June 2023.

The lens’s compact design provides portability, measuring 52.8mm long and weighing 215g.

It’s an ultra-wide angle (UWA) prime lens with a focal length of 8mm (equivalent to 12mm in the 35mm film format), the widest among the lineup of Fujifilm’s XF lenses.

It boasts a viewing angle of 121 degrees diagonally and 112 degrees horizontally. The UWA makes it perfect for outdoor and travel photography.

The lens barrel is weather-sealed at 10 locations to achieve dust- and weather- resistance. It’s capable of operating in temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celcius.

The front lens is applied with a fluorine coating to repel water and protect against stains.

Introduction of Fujifilm XApp for GFX/X Series Digital Cameras

The Fujifilm Camera Remote App (Camera Remote), which connects a Wi-Fi-capable digital camera with a smartphone/tablet for remote shooting, image transfer and viewing will be further enhanced with the new app.

Users can use the XApp to transfer images from the camera to the smartphone, check the live view on a smartphone/tablet and operate the camera remotely.

Aside from using the app to view the transferred images, users can also access shooting information such as the camera and lens used and the location of the photo shoot.

Users can also save their favourite camera settings in the app using the new Backup/Restore function.

In addition, the app receives notifications on new firmware updates for the paired camera model. Users can easily update the app to access the latest functionality.
