Unique Ramadan bazaar treats you have to try

Ramadhan is not only the holy month for Muslims to fast and pray Terawikh, but also the time for all great foods to come together, such as…

1. Multi-flavoured tau foo fah

Normally when we buy tau foo fah, the aunty would ask us, “clear sugar or brown sugar?”

Well not this time.

Bean curd also can level up!

At this stall, there are more than 5 types of flavours for your beloved tau foo fah!

📍 Bazaar Ramadhan Bandar Kinrara 5, Puchong (In front of Masjid Al-Ehsan).

2. Nasi Lemak Mak Ko Ijo

Today on r/malaysia, a kakak selling green nasi lemak is spotted.

Ironically Kakak is not wearing green.

Basically it is your upgraded nasi lemak, with pandan flavouring.

But who doesn’t love hot nasi lemak with fried chicken?

Reddit readers recommend the one in Bukit Katil, Melaka (next to the police station).

But we Klang Valley peeps can go to:
📍Puchong’s Bazaar Ramadhan.

3. Mee Tonggek

For seafood lovers, this dish will drive you mad.

A stall in Putrajaya doesn’t just serve your average mee goreng.

Instead, it’s basically the side dish for huge prawns and squids.

They are specially cooked with a mix of sauces that blend with the mee.

Which is the accompaniment? The mee or the sotong?

4. Kuih peria

Unlike its namesake the bittergourd, this tastes sweet with sweet desiccated coconut filling that just melts in your mouth.

Meticulously steamed, this goodness is intricately made by hand in multiple colours for your eyes to feast on before your mouth gets its chance.

📍 7 worldwide, Shah Alam (near Unisel).

5. Donuts

Who said cupcakes were the only ones with a variety of fillings?

We Malaysians now have doughnuts filled with Pecan Butterscotch, Red Velvet Cream Cheese and even Pandan Gula Melaka.

📍 Bazaar seksyen 2 Shah Alam

An honorouble mention to Teluk Intan folks.

6. Bandung Tarik Lejen

We have heard of teh tarek, but in Teluk Intan, an uncle and his family sells rich milky Air Bandung.

What makes it even more special is the fact that it has the richness of coconut milk.

If this doesn’t quench your thirst, then I wouldn’t know what would.
