Chinese Tourist Arrested For Public Nudity In Sabah Hotel
The police in Semporna have urged individuals who filmed the incident of a Chinese tourist appearing nude on a hotel balcony to come forward and assist with investigations.

A Chinese tourist was arrested by the police in Semporna, Sabah after a video of him appearing nude on a hotel balcony went viral on social media.
The 40-year-old man was detained on Thursday night following the spread of the nine-second video recording.
According to Semporna police chief Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, the man’s actions were recorded by passersby before it was shared on social media.
He added that the suspect is being held for four days until 12 June for further investigation under Section 294 (a).
“Individuals who filmed the incident were also asked to appear to help with investigations by contacting Inspector Khadijah Mohd Seruji or head to Semporna IPD or any police station nearby.”
Semporna police chief Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah urging witnesses to come forward.
The case is being investigated under Section 294 (a) of the Criminal Code for the misconduct of pornography in a public place, which carries a punishment of up to three months imprisonment or a fine or both if convicted.
The police have also urged individuals who filmed the incident to come forward and assist with investigations.
The incident sparked outrage among netizens, with many condemning the man’s behaviour as inappropriate and disrespectful to local customs and traditions.
The authorities have reminded tourists to respect local laws and customs while visiting Malaysia.
