Adopted Muslim Girl Now Gets Marriage Proposals From Netizens After She Went Viral

After receiving much encouragement from netizens who empathize with her statelessness, 22-year-old Rohana Abdullah is getting a wedding proposal.
According to Harian Metro, a netizen named Syed Norazman asked for her hand on social media.
I just want her to be my wife. After all, I’m already advanced in age.

However, Rohana rejected the marriage proposal.
Accordingly, she did not want to think about building a family at this time as she wanted to focus on other important things first.
Her Refuge And Strength
Rohana said her focus now is to build a stable life and take care of her laoshi (the Chinese word for teacher),senior citizen Chee Hoi Lan.
Chee, 83, was a former kindergarten teacher who took care of Rohana and raised her up when she was only 2-months-old.

Interestingly, it was because of the lack of citizenship which meant Rohana has not been able to get married.
She had also been denied other fundamental rights for not having proper documentation.
For example, she could not even open a bank account.
When the time comes, I will think about getting married. Get married because of love, not because of an identity card.

A Future And A Hope For Better Things
One of the hardest things in life is learning how to be hopeful.
Rohana thanked Malaysians who prayed for the well-being of her and her family.
The marriage proposal was among thousands of comments from netizens who shared their thoughts on Rohana’s plight.
Netizens were also impressed with the unconditional love of Chee who takes care of Rohana.
Even though they have different beliefs and religions, Chee ensured that Rohana was brought up as a Muslim with a firm foundation in the faith.
Some expressed hope that Chee will be blessed with hidayah (divine guidance) and convert to Islam.
Others pointed out that there are still many people out there who are without citizenship, and hope they will get the same assistance.
Netizens also hope that Rohana can reunite with her biological parent.
At the same time, various parties had also stepped forward to offer help, including elderly care for Chee, and legal services for the process of obtaining citizenship.
Rohana’s plight even caught the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He personally spoke to Rohana on the phone and reassured her that his office will look into the matter.
