[UPDATE] Malaysia also recorded the highest Covid-19 daily death toll with 98 deaths.
The number of daily Covid-19 broke the 9k ceiling today, Saturday (29 May) with a total of 9,020 cases.
As the number creeps closer to 10k, the Malaysian Highway Authority reported heavy traffic as Malaysians try to escape to their hometowns as the strict lockdown that is scheduled to start on 1 June.
The Health Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, after seeing reports of increased traffic heading south at Sg. Buloh tweeted: “Help save the country’s health system which will be paralyzed if the increase in cases is not controlled
“If we collapse, you and your family may not receive the best treatment. If things get worse, there will be no more beds in the hospital. Not to mention if you are in dire or critical condition”.
The Heath Ministry also posted photos of high traffic near the Gombak Toll Plaza heading East and Sungai Besi Toll with the caption: “Where are you going?”.
According to today’s statistics, Selangor has the highest number of cases with 2,836 confirmed infections. It is followed by Kelantan with 907 cases, and Negeri Sembilan with 898 cases.
