Guests who attended a wedding at Bukit Indera Muda, Penang on 29 August have been requested to contact the Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) Health Office to undergo Covid-19 screening after one guest tested positive recently.
Who said what: State Health director Dr Asmayani Khalib told Bernama that the notice went out after a guest at the akad nikah ceremony tested positive for Covid-19, believed to be from the Sungai Cluster in Kedah. Guests are asked to contact the health office at 04-5397884.

Why it matters: The Sungai Cluster is a newly emerged Covid-19 cluster from Kedah that has since spread to Perlis and possibly Penang. While the exact number of infected people are still unknown, the Health Ministry is diligently carrying out active case detection as well as screening of close contacts.
The index case is a staff of a medical centre in Kedah who tested positive on 5 September. The cluster has since ballooned to 26 active cases, and is one of the two clusters that led to the 100-new-cases-spike on 8 September.
