Nearly Half Of The Self-Employed Now Jobless Due To Covid-19

46.6% or close to half of self-employed Malaysians have lost their jobs due to Covid-19 which has disrupted many industries.
The Sun reported the findings gathered by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) that has a total of 168,182 respondents aged 15 years and above.
The numbers show that more than two-thirds (71.4%) of self-employed respondents have sufficient savings to last them for a month.
As for their income, 94.8% reported that their earnings have reduced due to the spread of the coronavirus with 35.5% saying that their income have lowered by 90%.
Agriculture (21.9%) and services sectors (15%) have the highest percentage of job losses as compared to other sectors.
