Putrajaya Hospital Lodges Police Report Over Abusive Video From Local Celebrities
Two viral videos were posted onto Twitter on 15 March, criticizing the speed and quality of service of healthcare professionals at Putrajaya Hospital.
The first one was recorded by local Malaysian singer Dayangku Intan. In it, she claims that she was showing symptoms of Covid-19 such as fever, headache, and sore throat. At the recommendation of a doctor friend, Dayangku Intan then went to Putrajaya Hospital for a check-up.
In the video, she claimed that her wait was long and the attending doctor was curt. She complained that she was not given appropriate attention and service.
A fan and friend Azwan Ali, also known as Diva AA, later recorded his own video supporting Dayangku Intan and criticizing the hospital staff for not doing their due diligence.
In response, the Putrajaya Hospital Director Datuk Dr Nora’i Mohd Said has lodged a police report against both parties for slander. In a public announcement, the hospital notes that this is a critical time for our healthcare personnel who have to work additional hours to keep up with the increase in Covid-19 cases.
The report states that these two videos from individuals with a wide audience have tarnished the hospital’s good name and reputation.
Our healthcare professionals are doing their best to care for all their patients during this stressful time. Let’s try to be understanding and extend some gratitude for them instead.
