Penang man falsified police report to postpone his wedding
A man in Penang is currently under investigation for falsifying a police report.
A police report he lodged to evade his own wedding do.
In his report, the 45 year old technician claims that he was mugged by 2 men on a motorcycle in front of a printing factory in Perai around 10.30pm last Saturday.
However, when the police checked the CCTV footage from the printing factory, there was no such incidence recorded.
If he is convicted for lodging a fake report, he can be sentenced up to 6 months or fined RM2,000, or both, under Section 182 of the Penal Code.
The technician, who had already done the akad nikah (solemnisation ceremony) on June 15, 2019, was in the midst of preparing his wedding reception expected to be held this August 28, 2019.
But due to immense pressure from the bride’s side that kept demanding for cash, the 45 year old decided to lodge a police report saying that he was mugged.
According to Seberang Perai Tengah Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab. Hamid, they are currently investigating the report.
The desperate groom is now in the custody of police for further questioning.
