In today’s world, where options for acquiring a new pet are plentiful, it’s crucial to consider the ethical implications of your choice.

While purchasing pets from breeders or pet stores may seem convenient, adopting from animal shelters and rescue organizations is a compassionate and responsible choice.

A recent rescue mission led by animal activist and model, Shima Aris, has shed light on the alarming practices of backyard breeders.

This eye-opening event, brought to our attention by Twitter user @itsybitsymin, revealed the disturbing truth about where many pets, including sought-after breeds like British Shorthairs and several other pedigree dogs and cats originate.

The rescue mission organized by Shima and her team unraveled the disturbing reality behind backyard breeders.

The team stumbled upon the breeder who owned 12 cats, 8 dogs and 20 hedgehogs, all living in disgusting and unhealthy situations,

These individuals (the breeders), are almost always motivated primarily by profit, engage in unethical breeding practices that compromise the welfare and health of animals.

As highlighted by @itsybitsymin several times in her tweets, pets sourced from backyard breeders, often sold through pet shops, endure substandard living conditions, inadequate healthcare, and lack of socialization.

As she pointed out, the rescue mission undoubtedly uncovered countless innocent victims trapped in appalling conditions.

Korang betul2 kena stop beli kucing dan anjing weh. This is where most of them come from. Even pet shops beli from backyard breeders. Nk sgt British short hair kan? Ha tgk ni. Please stop buying, adopt lah.

She also added that the backyard breeder had revealed to the rescue team that he was planning to start breeding cats since he had decided to retire from dog breeding.

What’s more sad is that Shima’s recent Instagram updates showed that one of the puppies rescued yesterday had passed away due to breathing difficulties.

@itsybitsymin also encouraged individuals to support the rescuers’ efforts by contributing to the medical bills of the rescued animals.

For those inspired to help, you may start by reaching out to the rescuers and supporting their cause.
