Queen Of Rock ‘N Roll Tina Turner Dies

Known for hits such as Goldeneye and We Don’t Need Another Hero, among others, Tina Turner passed away in Switzerland.

She once asked What’s Love Got To Do With It and shot to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and bagged a Grammy for Record of the Year.

Known as the Queen of Rock ‘n Roll, Tina Turner died at the age of 83.

According to CNN, she died at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

Her death was announced via a statement on her official Instagram page however no cause of death was detailed.

Turner was a force to be reckoned with. Her on-stage energy was unrivalled and there was no slowing down for her as she made it into the Guinness Book of World Records at the age of 49 for the largest paying audience for a solo performer.

She first broke into the scene in the late 50s as one half of the duo Ike & Tina. The duo enjoyed rolling success until they split in 1976.

Turner made it even bigger as a solo performer with hits such as Goldeneye, We Don’t Need Another Hero, The Best and many more.

Taking to Twitter, singer Dionne Warwick shared her message of condolences on Turner’s passing.

“Another longtime friend has made her transition. Not only will I miss that eternal ball of energy named Tina Turner but the entire world will also find this void in their lives. My condolences to her husband and other members of her family. Rest in Peace my friend!”

Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger posted: “I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her.”

Not only has her death struck a chord in the music industry, former US president Barack Obama also posted on Twitter, acknowledging Turner’s energy and how she was unstoppable.

“Tina Turner was raw. She was powerful. She was unstoppable. And she was unapologetically herself—speaking and singing her truth through joy and pain; triumph and tragedy. Today we join fans around the world in honouring the Queen of Rock and Roll, and a star whose light will never fade.”
