The “cat abuser” drama that has been dominating Twitter since yesterday saw an unexpected “political” plot twist today.

Earlier, we reported the issue which started out when one Twitter user issued a warning to those looking for adopters for their cats, to be careful of a woman named “Nia” and her boyfriend “Afiq”.

According to @nolongerskek, the two had allegedly been abusing the animals under their care. The Twitter user also alleged that Nia’s house was in a deplorable state, infested with fleas and maggots.

In the latest update, @nolongerskek shared screenshots of a conversation with “Afiq”.

She said when confronted about his girlfriend allegedly abusing animals, he replied by name-dropping a politician.

In the screenshots, it showed “Afiq” claiming that his stepfather was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He also sent a photo that was allegedly Ahmad Zahid’s identification card with the message, “Ni my bapak. Try me.” (This is my father, try me).

Enter Nurul Zahid

After @nolongerskek’s Twitter post went viral, Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid was alerted to the matter.

It’s only natural that if someone claims to be your father’s stepson, you’d want to find out more, especially if you were not aware of the existence of such an individual.

Doing her own digging, Nurulhidayah managed to find a phone number for “Afiq” and gave him a call.

She shared the exchange on her Instagram @nurul.zahid.

She informed that “Afiq” admitted that he found Ahmad Zahid’s IC on Google and shared it with the person he was having an argument with in order to scare them.

In his phone conversation with Nurulhidayah, “Afiq” said he would apologise for what he did.
