Raya is upon us in a few weeks and it’s the time of the year when touching family reunions take place, especially when everyone has been apart for some time.

TikTok user Muhammad Najmi (@najmirsni) decided to surprise his parents on their 31st wedding anniversary after not seeing them for three years.

Najmi, who’s studying Syariah law at Egypt’s Al Azhar University, has not returned home for a long time due to expensive flight tickets, Harian Metro reported.

When his beloved cousin passed in an accident back in February, his family refused to let him fly home because he was about to complete his studies.

Since he misses his parents dearly, he secretly flew home on 1 March to surprise them.

On 3 March, Najmi called his cousin upon reaching Jerantut to fetch him from the hotel and he managed to book a surprise gift for his parents.

He then disguised himself as a delivery rider using a bandana to cover the lower half of his face and wore a helmet and sunglasses.

In the viral video, he could be seen greeting his parents who couldn’t recognize him at all due to his disguise.

After reading the greeting card wishing them a Happy Anniversary aloud, he removed his helmet.

His mother immediately recognized him and called out his name while crying. She hugged Najmi tightly and couldn’t stop letting out happy wails.

At one point, she also hit him lightly for pulling a prank on her before pulling him into a tighter hug.

His father was also glad to see him but was more reserved on camera. Najmi also embraced his father after his mother let him go.

Najmi said they couldn’t recognize him in disguise because he has lost some weight during his time studying abroad.

Netizens were touched and many of them said they teared up after watching the touching family reunion.

Some netizens said the family reunion made them miss their late parents too.

Nevertheless, they were happy to see the family back together after being apart for so long and wished Najmi and his family well.
