We are all familiar with horses racing on tracks but over the weekend, road users were bewildered by the sight of a lone horse galloping on a highway in Terengganu.

The horse broke out of its transport following an accident at about 9.30am yesterday. A Ford pick up truck that was transporting the animal from Johor Bahru to Kuala Terengganu was involved in a crash with a lorry at KM251.9 of the East Coast Highway (LPT 2) near Cheneh, as reported by Kosmo Online.

The horse which managed to escape from the vehicle was spotted running on the highway, possibly spooked by the accident. It was finally recaptured and tamed by the owner after an hour and half.

Drivers along the highway were seen giving way to the horse as they did not want anything to happen to the poor animal.

According to Kemaman District Police Chief, Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan, the owner aged 34 and the lorry driver aged 48 escaped with minor injuries.

Netizens expressed their sympathies but some also made jokes.

Remember the time Malaysians were treated to the rare sight of an ostrich racing down Federal Highway? Now the horse and Chickaboo have something in common. They both escaped their little escapade unharmed.
