A locomotive from KTMB’s Ekspress Rakyat Timuran passenger train caught fire at Taman Tasek Kiara in Tanah Merah en route from Tumpat to Johor Bahru last night.
Tanah Merah Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Zulkifli Osman said 12 firefighters from Tanah Merah and Machang stations were immediately dispatched in two trucks to the location.
He also stated that the officers were on the scene by 10.39 pm after receiving a call at 10.36pm and the fire was brought under control by 11 pm.
No passengers were hurt but the train driver who sustained injuries was brought to the Tanah Merah Hospital for treatment
Zulkifli also added that the cause of fire is still under investigation.
