Yeoh then paused and turned away from the crowd to compose herself but eventually let out an exciting scream of “f**k” and “s**t,” which drew laughter from the supportive audience.
She added that the award wasn’t just for her but for every little girl who looks like her. She also gave a shout-out to Sally Field in her speech.
She [Sally] said all the right things because we are here because we love what we do and we will never stop doing this because we really, really love it. But thank you for giving me a seat at the table because so many of us need this. We want to be seen, we want to be heard, and tonight, tonight you’ve shown us that it is possible. I’m grateful and my mum will be eternally grateful to all of you.Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh
This win for Yeoh comes after she received her first Oscar nomination for her performance in the same film, and her 2023 Golden Globe win for best actress in a motion picture, musical or comedy.
