Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi has blasted the Opposition for ‘spinning’ his speech during the MIC Congress last Monday.

Zahid said that the upcoming general election is a ‘must-win’ for his coalition because Pakatan Harapan (PH) will continue to target BN leaders with selective political prosecution if they win the election.

“At minute 2.35 (of the video) it was clear that I was highlighting the political and selective prosecution.

“That’s what I mean by the risk for BN leaders if the enemy wins GE15. Enemies of BN will abuse the power to make political prosecutions,” Zahid wrote on his Facebook last night.

The UMNO president also urges the public not to be deceived by BN enemies’ “political spin”.

“That’s how they won GE14 by twisting, confusing and inciting the people.”

During his speech at the MIC Congress last Monday, Zahid warned other leaders in BN their opponent PH would continue with selective prosecution if they formed the government after the upcoming GE15, as per what they did after winning the previous election.

“It is now or never. Not only will I be charged if we get defeated, but Tok Mat (BN Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan) will be next.

“Tan Sri Vicky (MIC president S.A. Vigneswaran) don’t laugh, you too will be next and (MCA president Datuk Seri Wee) Ka Siong, they won’t forget you),” said Zahid in jest during his speech.

Zahid’s speech has been deemed as an admission by its detractors that BN pushed for the general election to be expedited ahead of its schedule as their leaders are fearful of getting prosecuted in the court of law for their misconduct in the past.
