Zahid said that the coalition needs to secure a big win in the next general election to put an end to the current cycle of selective prosecution against BN leaders.

“You’ll get charged, everyone will get charged,” Zahid warns BN leaders on the consequences of losing GE15.

Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi had warned other leaders in the coalition that Pakatan Harapan (PH) would continue with selective prosecution if they formed the government after the upcoming 15th general election.

Zahid said that BN would need to secure a big win during the election to stop the cycle of selective prosecution, New Strait Times reported.

He added that PH would target a host of BN leaders and warned others that they could be the next person to be targeted by the Opposition front.

“It is now or never. Not only will I be charged if we get defeated, but Tok Mat (BN Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan) will be next.

“Tan Sri Vicky (MIC president S.A. Vigneswaran) don’t laugh, you too will be next and (MCA president Datuk Seri Wee) Ka Siong, they won’t forget you),” said Zahid in jest during his speech.

He said this during the MIC Congress last Monday.

Zahid said that this happened after BN was defeated by PH in the last general election, pointing towards the charge that was framed upon former prime minister and UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Razak, as well as on him in the court.

Although Zahid had been acquitted of all 40 charges of receiving bribes from Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB) to extend its foreign visa system (VLN) contract, he is still facing 47 charges of criminal breach of trust, graft and money laundering which relate to funds belonging to the charitable organisation Yayasan Akalbudi.

Zahid’s Yayasan Akalbudi trial is scheduled to resume on 31 October.

Meanwhile, Najib, the first former prime minister to serve time behind bars, was sent to prison for 12 years after he was found guilty of misappropriating RM42 million belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). He was also fined RM210 million.

A snap election will be held within 60 days of the Parliament dissolution which took place last Monday.
