Just today, Dusun Tua assemblyperson Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof was left perplexed when the police prevented him from attending Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s gotong-royong cleanup event although it was held in his constituency.
Taking to his Twitter, Edry said he was told to welcome the prime minister as a sign of respect.
Since he was turned away by the police, he said he had more important matters to attend to.
PM nak datang. Sebagai ADUN kawasan saya diminta kalau boleh sambutlah sebagai tanda hormat. Kita pun ok je. Tapi pagi ni saya nak masuk ke lokasi, polis tak bagi masuk. Takpalah, saya pun banyak kerja lain. Selamat datang YB @IsmailSabri60. Saya gerak dulu. pic.twitter.com/9aBRj5Ux1Q

Edry also took a swipe and pointed out that the police had skipped two local disaster management committee meetings.
He reminded them to attend the Hulu Langat district disaster coordination meeting tonight.
Buat pihak @PDRMsia yang garang² pada saya dan orang² kampung tadi. Harap malam ni hadir ya mesyuarat penyelarasan bencana daerah Hulu Langat. Dah dua malam skip meeting. Kita banyak benda nak kena settle ni.

Should the ambulance or the VIP motorcade go first?
A netizen also shared a video showing the motorcade riding into town while an ambulance was made to wait.
Pukul 9 gerak, pukul 11.30 baru sampai disebabkan jln sesak tutup VIP nak lawat kawasan. Lihat sahaja keadaan kawasan Dusun Nanding pic.twitter.com/bnXf4IofwD

Netizens criticised the behaviour and said putting the life of others second was too much.
Ni melampau lah kalu mcm ni.. ambulan pulak kena tunggu ko punya konvoi.. xpe2, sbb bkn keturunan ko kan yg ditimpa musibah.. Allah Maha Adil.. skrg masih bernyawa boleh lah tunjuk kuasa.. alam barzah kita lain nasib di sana.. good luck

Ambulance tu satu kenderaan jer … tapi kena tunggu a parade pass by with full of healthy people. Where is the logic of this? What have these people been eating that affects their common sense and empathy?

Only in Malaysia. VIP is above the law! A mans life is of no concern. Rakyat life is nothing and is below them. Even an ambulance has to stop & wait for VIP. Its crazy unbelievable. Please do something I implore you YB @Khairykj @DGHisham.

A few netizens said the ambulance should be allowed to go first instead of the VIP motorcade.

With resentment growing among the people, it’s high time for our politicians to buck up for real.
