Catch these 5 videos to light up your Deepavali celebration

Deepavali is just around the corner!

And the Festival of Lights brings with it a celebration of spirituality, family, good wholesome foods and also a whole lot of compelling and inspiring videos to pull at your heartstrings, make you laugh and reminisce on the joys of this festive holiday.

So without further ado, here are some great Deepavali themed videos that have popped up this 2019:

Thanggam by Petronas

As usual, Petronas came in strong to make sure to keep those tears flowing.

This heartwarming video tells the story of a modern city boy who is forced to spend time with his strict and old school, lady boss of a Paati (that’s grandmother for all you non-Tamil speakers…)

Watch how Kumar forms a loving bond with his seemingly stern and uncompromising grandmother and discovers the hidden kindness behind her cold-hearted demeanour, and how he tries to reconnect with his roots.

Style Mannavan by TNB

The hero in this comedic tale goes by the name of Manoharan Ganesa Ravi, or MGR as his Amma calls him.

MGR is really looking forward to Deepavali to win the heart of the girl of his dreams, only to be tromped by an outfit he was forced to wear that shines as bright as a diamond.

But a day at the temple got rid of all his inhibitions in an instant as he is met with an angel that looked like she had walked straight out of an old movie.

Soya Cincau by Enrico

This comedic short story is one not to be missed!

It tells the tale of a short Chinese guy and a very tall Indian girl which he has the hearts for and tries furiously to win over.

Set in the 50s’ this charming video unfolds into a truly unique story of the spiritual harmony between cultures in Malaysia that you have to enjoy for yourself!

Arvin’s ReDeepavali by CIMB

CIMB’s Deepavali ad this year showcases relationship and contrast between tradition and modern-day attitudes and how different celebrations bring people closer together with family and friends.

Interestingly enough, this ad also features a plugin of Nandini Balakrishnan from NANDINI SAYS who invites viewers to ask her questions on the history, culture and traditions of Deepavali, which assumingly she would answer in her show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Strength to Rise by RHB Group

This Deepavali video shares the story of former gangster turned social worker, Dr Muraly Arumugam, founder of Tamilan Uthavum Karangal (Malaysia Tamilian Helping Hands).

Showcasing an inspiring message of redemption and second chances, Muraly and his organisation are on a mission to help carry physically disabled worshipers up the 272 steps of the iconic Batu Caves to reach the temple summit.
