5 things you can finally do in KL now that everyone’s gone during Hari Raya

It’s Raya time, guys. Time to scream-sing “Balik Kampung†as you leave KL, post up your best Raya pose and tweet “Mat Ri Ye†500 times a day.

But we know there’s a special subset of the population that have ZERO plans for the Raya holidays. *gasp*
No insta-worthy vacations, no serving lewks on social media – just enjoying the bliss of not dealing with work.

We feel you, fam. But now that KL is blessedly empty, here are a couple of things you can FINALLY do:
1. GO IKEA
Go baby, go! This is a magical time when there’ll hardly be
anyone in town sprinting towards the Swedish furniture store.
Indulge in the fantasy of building your perfect little home. Prance through the model bedrooms, giggle at the hilarious-sounding names, and get some of those Swedish meatballs.

Don’t forget to try out their Cendol Durian D24 Cake too! It’s specially available this raya for a limited time.
2. SHOP TILL YOU DROP
The raya sales are still going strong and the malls are empty. No need to shuffle through a crowded mall, and even better no need to wrestle with people when buying stuff.
3. CATCH A MOVIE

Didn’t get a chance to catch Avengers: Endgame?
Well, you’re in luck now; there’s plenty of room for you to
gape at the muscles on screen as you shovel popcorn into your mouth.
You’ve also got new releases like Aladdin, Godzilla, John Wick 3 that’ll keep you entertained during the two-day break.
4. PARTY LIKE AN ANIMAL
New Straits Times recently informed the nation that Zoo Negara is struggling to stay open with financial troubles and low visitor numbers.
Why not show some support and have a lovely outing with friends and family with penguins, hornbills and Giant Pandas Xing Xing and Liang Liang.

The timing is also perfect as the zoo just welcomed the birth of a baby giraffe. So go visit and get your pictures of the little cutie!
5. WHIZZ THROUGH TOWN
Another perk of the Raya break is the spectacularly empty roads. Strap on your seat belt, shift into gear and go for a joyride through KL.

Jalan Kinabalu is particularly nice as you pass by some iconic buildings like the old KL railway station, Dataran Merdeka and Bank Negara.
