There is a saying that one man’s meat is another man’s poison.

While Thor fans in Malaysia are saddened by the delay of its latest movie, supporters of the local movie Mat Kilau Kebangkitan Pahlawan are beaming with pride.

They believe that the success of Mat Kilau at the box office had deterred Thor: Love and Thunder from making an appearance on the silver screen.

There were rumours that the delay was due to censorship, but moviegoers said it doesn’t make sense that it would take so long.

Thor has been postponed by nearly a month to 21 July.

Some Mat Kilau fans said the cinemas should show both movies simultaneously, to prove which one is better.

Others claim that Thor is being postponed so as not to disturb the momentum of Mat Kilau.

A Runaway Success

Mat Kilau, which was screened on 23 June, collected more than RM23.3 million within seven days of screening.

The achievement was despite initial hiccups such as critics saying that it does not reflect the actual history.
