The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) now has their very first female ethnically-Indian Malaysian pilot, Lt. (Air) Lohappriya Manisegaran!
In the Wing Presentation Ceremony held on 9 October, she was awarded with her wings that marked her graduation to being a ‘combat ready’ pilot.
It took Lohappriya almost six years to get to where she is now, beginning from the National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) to Kolej Tentera Udara (KTU).
This year’s ceremony saw 38 new pilots to get their wings, including 8 fighter jet pilots, 15 aircraft pilots, and 15 helicopter pilots.
The RMAF operates a unique mix of modern American, European, and Russian-made aircrafts in their effort to protect the sovereignty of Malaysian airspace.
