Kelantan Wheelie Couple Arrested, Netizens Shocked To Find Out They’re Under 18 AND Married

After two days of either being on the run or just hiding, the Kelantan couple wanted by police after a video of their “road stunt” went viral, have been arrested.
What has gotten social media tongues’ wagging, however, is not the arrest itself.
In a statement confirming that the two finally presented themselves to the police, Kota Bharu district police chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud revealed that the boy and the girl, both 17 and 16, respectively, were actually husband and wife.
Social media lit up last night, with many expressing their surprise that the two, both under 18, were married.

The two were detained at 10am yesterday by the Kota Bharu District Police’s Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department.
Earlier, netizens had been sharing a video clip showing the boy performing a wheelie on the road with the girl riding pillion. What caught people’s attention more than the dangerous stunt itself was that both were decked in matching traditional attire, which typically does not include a helmet.
The case will be investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The couple will be taken to the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court for remand application.
If convicted, they can be jailed not more than 5 years and fined not less than RM5,000 or more than RM15,000.
