Taiwanese singer Jay Chou has responded kindly to irate football fans who demanded the singer postpone his concert, which was scheduled on 15 January 2023.
This is because Harimau Malaya fans, the Ultras Malaya, wanted more seats for the first leg of the AFF Championship semifinal between Malaysia and Thailand today (7 January 2023).
In his Instagram Story, Jay Chou said he doesn’t mind postponing his concert, but the football fans will have to take it up with the football association and the venue organiser.
I have no problems with it, I just want to sing for my fans. I just hope when people come to see my concert, they come with a happy heart.

Yesterday, football fans left rude comments on the singer’s Instagram post. Amidst all the angry comments, there were also a few funny responses.
One of the netizens claimed Jay Chou is unknown and not famous (that person might be too young to know about Jay Chou’s popular years).
In response, another netizen said they might not recognize Jay Chou as a singer. Still, they might remember him as Takumi Fujiwara, the main character in the Initial D movie, which was a popular flick in 2005.
malu jugak la baca, jay chou tu upload gambar pantai punya lawa tapi komen rakyat kita.. what is this mentality? it’s already 2023 come on now 😑😩 pic.twitter.com/53VkcT3DNq

The uproar also drew comments from Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal who asked Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh to rectify the matter.
Hannah said ministerial powers shouldn’t be abused and stated that the Bukit Jalil National Stadium booking for the Jay Chou concert was made on 13 March 2019 while AFF 2022 was only booked on 18 August 2022.
Despite this, she promised to prepare large screens in 14 locations nationwide so that football fans can still watch their beloved match.
These locations include Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, Laman MBPJ in Petaling Jaya, Dewan Bandaraya Kuantan in Pahang, and Mydin Petrajaya in Sarawak.
Tolong RT! @StadiumMalaysia @FAM_Malaysia @ASTROARENA pic.twitter.com/ooFxXe0zQ1
