[UPDATE: AirAsia X has released a statement to clarify that the issuance of Credit Accounts, refunds or moving flights for guests (collectively known as Guests Entitlements) will be put on hold pending approval from the scheme creditors and sanction from the court. Once the restructuring is successful, the airline will continue on with the credit account and be in a position to extend Guests Entitlements to all eligible guests, including AirAsia X Unlimited Pass holders.]

Bad news for AirAsia X customers as they cannot claim any refunds or credits from the airline while it undergoes a restructuring process after being hit hard by the pandemic.

According to the AirAsia X support site, the airline has submitted an application for a debt restructuring to the High Court of Kuala Lumpur and customers have been listed as scheme creditors as part of that process.

AirAsia X Berhad (D7) is unable to provide any refunds, credit accounts or move of flights until the scheme creditors have approved and the High Court of Kuala Lumpur has sanctioned the proposed debt restructuring.

Additionally, credit account applications, flight changes and Unlimited Pass holders are also affected.

AirAsia X states that affected customers will be contacted via email with an explanation, details of the proposed scheme, and their customers’ rights.

Copies of the e-mail have also been shared on social media, which states the same information as the support site.

The airlines states that it will be “back to business” and able to “extend travel credits” to their customers once the court approves their restructuring scheme.

Until then, AirAsiaX customers will just have to wait.
