The Kedah Consumers Association, more affectionately known as Cake, wants to sue a state assemblyman who is allegedly the “patient zero” of the new Bah Lunas Covid-19 cluster in Kedah.

Cake secretary Mohd Yusrizal Yusof claims that the politician had been careless and did not follow Covid-19 SOPs. He failed to undergo a swab test after coming back to West Malaysia from Sabah.

Kedah has seen two new clusters last week and rising daily cases in the triple digits.

A female teacher, who had recently travelled to Sabah with her politician husband, tested positive for Covid-19. Due to that, Sekolah Kebangsaan Permatang Janggus was ordered to close.

Mohd Yusrizal also noted that businesses affected by the new cluster and parents of SK Permatang Janggus students will also be involved in the lawsuit.

Previously, Cake had already submitted a RM1 million lawsuit against patient zero of the Sivagangga, the owner of a nasi kandar shop in Napoh, Kedah. The man had breached his mandatory quarantine after returning from India, leading to a new outbreak in the state.
