Singapore & Indonesia Officially Have Higher Covid-19 Cases Than Malaysia

One month into the Movement Control Order (MCO) and it appears that Malaysia’s Covid-19 case numbers are improving.
As of 18th April 2020, the nation records a total of 5,305 positive Covid-19 cases – an increase of only 54 compared to the previous day- and 88 deaths.
This is also the second day in a row where Malaysia’s daily case increases are in the double digits after the rapid spike in March.
These latest numbers indicate that Malaysia no longer has the highest number of cases as Indonesia has reported 407 new coronavirus cases within a 24-hour period, bringing their Covid-19 numbers to 5,923. Indonesia also records the highest death toll in the region with 520 people succumbed to the virus infection.
In the same day, the Philippines had a total of 5,878 infections but latest figures show that the country’s Covid-19 count has risen to 6,087, while deaths have reached 397.
The situation is also worsening for our southern neighbours as Singapore just reported a daily high of 942 reported Covid-19 cases today (18th April), bringing their total to 5,992 with 11 deaths.
Singapore is almost midway through a month-long “circuit breaker†with strict social distancing measures to stem the Covid-19 outbreak. Meanwhile, Indonesia declared Covid-19 a national disaster on 13th April.
