Experience Indigenous Malaysia this weekend in Shah Alam
The Selangor International Indigenous Arts Festival (SIIAF) 2019 will be held this weekend on the 3rd and 4th of August in beautiful National Botanic Park Shah Alam.
Every year, Tourism Selangor hosts the festival to celebrate the cultures of Malaysia’s indigenous tribes.
This year, they will showcase the hidden gems of Selangor Orang Asal’s unique traditional cultures and customs.
The SIIAF 2019 will see cultural dance performances by the Mah Meri and Temuan tribes from Selangor, Semai tribes from Perak, Seletar tribe from Johor, as well as tribes from Sabah and Sarawak.
There will also be international indigenous tribes from Spain, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, and South Korea to celebrate unique diversity and culture as well!
The festival will showcase authentic set-ups of traditional villages and handicraft for an immersive experience and feature plenty of demonstrations and games to participate in.
On top of that, graze as the indigenous do with a fantastic selection of traditional cuisines at the Traditional Indigenous Food Exhibition brought to you exclusively by the Malaysia Orang Asli Development Association.
If traditional dishes aren’t really your thing, you can fill your tummy with the many different selections of grub from food trucks and fruit stalls.
Art lovers should definitely not miss the festival as the Sabah Sarawak KL Heritage Association has prepared a Borneo Street Market with exclusive hand-made indigenous crafts.
