Starbucks’ New Christmas Confetti Cookie Latte, Worth It Or Not? [Review]

Is Christmas supposed to taste like confetti in the morning?

You know it’s that time of the season when malls are playing “All I Want For Christmas Is You”. Lady Mariah and her heavenly tones just scream Christmas.

Even though it’s still quite far away, but, you gotta admit, THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING! So what does that mean?

That, my friend, means that the seasonal Starbucks Christmas Holiday Beverages are here again!

They’ve got the crowd’s holiday favorite, Starbucks Toffee Nut Crunch Latte, and Starbucks Peppermint Mocha ready in the coffee chain starting from 9th November 2021.

But wait, there’s a new Christmas surprise up their sleeves for you to try.

Introducing, Starbucks’ Confetti Cookie Latte!

Looks ordinary huh? Wait till you see the top view.

This new drink pairs their signature espresso with toasted white chocolate syrup and steamed milk for a semi-sweet holiday concoction.

Topped with whipped cream and confetti sprinkles, this drink will reminisce a freshly-baked cookie, toasty and comforting – or so they say.

Want to find out if it’s true or not? Leggo.

The Taste Test

The Cookie Confetti Latte is available hot, iced, or as a frappe. It can also be with and without coffee too for those non caffeine enthusiasts.

Well, I picked the Iced Latte one, definitely with whipped cream, because they are just so pretty to look at! And they taste nice too.

I was expecting them to put your average rainbow rice sprinkles, but nope, Starbucks just goes for the extra mile. They’re actually elastic-but-melts-in-your-mouth flakes. Get what I mean?

It’s so pretty I feel guilty drinking it.

They’re a bit chewy and just complements the drink with their self-made whipping cream. Did you know you can customise your whipped cream with plant-based or normal vanilla ones?

The drink itself, can be customised again, with normal, oat milk or almond milk choices. Mine is the low-fat one and well, you can taste it. 🙂 The drink is super creamy if you thoroughly mix the whipped cream together.

I expected this drink to be sweet and full of cookie crumbs. But surprisingly there are no cookies here.

The Verdict

It tastes nothing like a cookie. Well, depends on what cookie they’re talking about…

But if you think about it, what do you expect it to taste like? Chipsmore? Oreo? Those are commercial cookies.

I bet the cookies they’re talking about are the Butter Cookies. And it’s not supposed to taste like the cookie texture. Crunchy and chewy. Disclaimer: No cookie bits whatsoever. I embarrassingly got the wrong idea.

The cookie part is actually from the syrup. Remember the toasty white chocolate syrup they described? Yes, that one. The syrup does taste toasty and elevates the flavour of white chocolate.

This drink is not that sweet as the coffee part is subtly stronger than the syrup. I suggest you can get it sweeter if you add on extra white chocolate syrup and maybe choose a decaf type of espresso.

Anyhow, I love the confetti part! I feel like a kid opening a present on Christmas morning. 9/10 for the topping.

Venti is more worth it than a Grande to be honest.

The drink starts from RM19.60 but can cost a bit more with add ons. I got mine around RM22 with the whipped cream.

As whether or not the Confetti Cookie Latte is worth your time and money, it’s actually a 50-50 from me. You might like it if you add some modifications to it. But if you’re an avid coffee drinker with a very mild sweet-tooth, then this drink is perfect for you.

Furthermore, there are other drinks you can enjoy here, such as the Toffee Nut Crunch Latte and Peppermint Mocha.

These two drinks have been Starbucks’ staple holiday drinks for a few years now, and are definitely fan favourites. Either way, it’s about time to get our holiday spirits warmed up!
