Americans fall in love with M’sian Maggi Kari on the streets of New York City

Malaysia’s broke millennial/student meal has gone INTERNATIONAL!

An American YouTuber, Xiaomanyc took to the bustling streets of New York City to share Maggi Kari, our hostel pantry staple.

In the video posted on 1st July, he explained that he ran into a couple of Malaysians who straight up told him that Maggi Kari noodles was something that Malaysians really love.

“It’s the Malaysian curry flavour. It’s very unique, it’s very special.
I got some of it and I tried it and I was like… you know what? This is actually really good!”

Armed with hot water and Maggi packets, he served it up to strangers
who were about to be blessed with the beautifully (not so) spicy, springy
noodles.

Here’s how they reacted:

Confusion

To be fair, Maggi Kari isn’t a global dish, so we doubt many have heard or seen it.

Malaysia is also pretty low profile internationally, so….

Excellent noodle-handling skills

Perfect pulls, as high as they can go!

“It’s really spicy”

Fun fact, only the Asian didn’t think it was that spicy.

Though this comment basically sums up what we’re all really thinking:

“Oh wow, this is REALLY good”

Despite, the teary eyes, burning tongues and coughs, there’s no hiding the oomph of the Maggi seasoning!

Though we’re not too sure why you would call the soup “juice”.

“Thank you for the free food”

We think she’s secretly Malaysian inside.

While we thoroughly enjoyed watching the reactions, we couldn’t
help but flinch every time he pronounces Maggi as “mah-gi” instead of “meh-gi”.

Another interesting thing is how many people thought that it would go great with seafood, especially prawns. Which is kinda how most of us enjoy our curry noodles.

This isn’t the first time Xiaomanyc has introduced Malaysian deliciousness down the throats of unsuspecting Americans. He’s done videos on Milo, Ipoh White Coffee and bak kwa.

Despite the spicy comments, the Americans really did enjoy the Maggi. And we love it when people love our food!
