The search for the 2021 Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment (MAGIA) recipients has begun! Send your applications today via online (HERE) and be ready to embark on a three months attachment abroad.

Touted as one of the nation’s leading Grant, it has been designed to identify and recognise highly passionate and determined young Malaysians who personify the Spirit of Merdeka, and those who in their own way, demonstrate a commitment to excellence. The Grant is a signature initiative of the Merdeka Award Trust, established by PETRONAS, ExxonMobil and Shell.

Open to qualified Malaysians between the ages of 22 – 35, the Grant will provide up to five outstanding individuals the chance to engage in a short-term collaborative project or research programme at an internationally-recognised host institution. The Grant covers a broad range of disciplines such as education, visual and performing arts, sports, heritage, community and social work, economics, finance, environment, health, science and technology.

“The Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment is committed to retain its position as a key for deserving young Malaysians to become the next generation of leaders in their respective fields. Throughout the years, the programme has provided the necessary skills and expertise that has seen our young leaders expand their capabilities to deliver exceptional advancements for the nation and its people,” PETRONAS President and Group Chief Executive Officer Tengku Muhammad Taufik said.

Selected recipients of the 2021 Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment are expected to embark on their international attachment in 2022 or 2023, which provides some assurance for potential applicants who are concerned about travelling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
