In a heart-wrenching incident, a young girl, Nur Farah Melissa Mohd Shukri, was forced to bid farewell to her father just 17 hours before the release of her SPM results.

Nur Farah Melissa’s father was hospitalized due to kidney disease complications and passed away the evening before the results were announced.

Despite the tragic loss, the student from Kuala Terengganu achieved excellent grades in her SPM exams, scoring 8A2C.

Nur Farah Melissa’s father, Mohd Shukri Ismail, 57, a teacher, was admitted to the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) last Monday.

He died due to kidney complications.

Harian Metro reported a sad atmosphere at Sekolah Menengah Agama Khairiah, where Nur Farah Melissa studied.

Over 50 teachers and students hugged while wiping away sadness and expressing condolences to Nur Farah Melissa.

A grieving Nur Farah Melissa was accompanied by her younger brother, Muhammad Asyraf Daniel, 17, up on stage to receive the SPM result certificate.

Her mother, Wan Zubaidah Wan Ahmad, 49, who is also a teacher, was unwell and could not accompany her.

Fulfilling A Promise

After collecting her grades, she immediately went to her father’s grave and shared the news with him.

When the father was still alive, he had tried to ask the doctor’s permission to leave the hospital to accompany his daughter to take the SPM results.

Nur Farah Melissa, the eldest of four siblings, expressed her desire to dedicate her achievement to her parents.

She also promised to fulfil her father’s last wish by pursuing a degree in accounting, even if it means studying abroad.

This touching story has grabbed the attention of many Malaysians and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices parents make for their children’s futures.
