It’s been a while since tourism has boomed in Sarawak.

With interstate travel now open to those vaccinated, the ‘Land of the Hornbills’ is eager and excited to welcome travellers back!

Jom Ke Sarawak (JKS) interstate campaign was launched today (15 October) and features 16 discounted tour packages throughout Sarawak’s southern, central and northern region starting from as low as RM176 per person for a three-day, two-night stay package.

Sarawak Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said in his opening speech today:

This is indeed very affordable for you to discover Sarawak at its fullest potential. Furthermore, with the advancement of technology, you can just book your trip conveniently with just a few swipes of your finger through Shopee Malaysia.

Buy Now, Travel Later With Easier Accessibility And Connectivity

In a joint collaboration between Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF), Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies (ASIA) and Shopee Malaysia, bookings can be made from 15 October until December 5th 2021 through Shopee Malaysia, with a travel period from 15 October until 15 December 2021.

Karim said his ministry is working closely with the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) to increase the flight frequency to Sarawak and currently has 87 flights weekly from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Johor Bahru, Labuan and Singapore.

The destinations in Sarawak are namely Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

He also said he’s very optimistic that Sarawak will be able to form a “green travel bubble” with neighbouring counties such as Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia as international borders start to open up.

Revenge Travellers, Ready?

STB Chief Executive Officer, Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor believes reopening borders gives a golden opportunity for travellers to rediscover Sarawak at its full potential, and at a discounted price.

After what could be described as a tough year, it is finally the right time to reset, refresh and rejuvenate this year-end. Sarawak has a lot to offer, varying from adventure to leisure, recreation, gastronomy, heritage, and culture making it the right choice for your next vacation plan.

As Sarawak is preparing to anticipate the needs of the new brand of tourists coming out of the pandemic, or ‘revenge travellers’ as its sometimes coined, STB has also initiated other campaigns such as the intrastate Sia Sitok Sarawak V2.0, Sia Sitok Sarawak Accommodation, and Visitors Incentive Package (VIP).
