The United Kingdom will open its doors again as the rules for international travel to England will change from the red, amber, green traffic light system to a single red list of countries from 4 October 2021.
Simplified travel measures for arrivals
For Malaysians, you will need to have been vaccinated for at least 14 days with a full course of an approved vaccine.
Currently, there are seven vaccines approved for use in Malaysia but only four are accepted in the UK. They are:
- Oxford/AstraZeneca
- Pfizer BioNTech
- Moderna
- Janssen
The mixing of two different doses of the vaccines is also recognised.
You must then:
- Book and pay for a day 2 Covid-19 test to be taken after arrival in England.
- Complete your passenger locator form within the 48 hours before you arrive in England
- Take a Covid-19 test on or before day 2 after you arrive in England.
Take note that you do NOT need to take:
- A pre-departure test
- A day 8 Covid-19 test
- Quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 days after you arrive in England
The above also applies to 17 other countries, including fully vaccinated travellers from Japan, New Zealand and Singapore.
Those who fail to show proof of their vaccination either digitally or on paper will have to follow the non-vaccinated rules which you can read more about here.
While Malaysia is not on the red list, the countries that are include Cuba, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand and Venezuela.
