Here’s All The Cabinet Members And Politicians With Covid-19 In 2021 (So Far)

With the third wave of Covid-19 currently ravaging the country, an increasing number of cabinet members, politicians and VIPs have been infected.

If you can’t keep up with the updates, here’s the full list of cabinet member, politicians and VIPs who are confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19 in 2021 so far:

9 January – Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (Economic Affairs Minister)

Tok Pa is the second Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department to test positive for Covid-19.

Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, or commonly known as Tok Pa, tested positive for Covid-19 on 9th January at Kota Baru, Kelantan.

He was warded at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Kota Baru for observation, but in stable condition.

9 January – Ab Aziz Yusof (Nenggiri assemblyman) & Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani (Gua Musang UMNO Youth Chief)

State Assemblyman (ADUN) Nenggiri, Ab Aziz Yusoff and Gua Musang UMNO Youth Chief, Mohd. Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani were confirmed positive for Covid-19 on 9 January.

The two were involved in several flood relief programmes a few before, helping affected residents in Kampung Jeram Tekoh, Kampung Bertam Baru and Kampung Pasir Tumbuh here.

They were admitted to Hospital Kuala Krai for treatment.

10 January – Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun (Women, Family & Community Development Minister)

Women, Family & Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing screening at the Putrajaya Klinik Kesihatan on 10 January.

She was admitted into Hospital Sungai Buloh the next morning.

11 January – Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim (Galas assemblyman)

Kelantan’s Galas assemblyman Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim announced that he and his wife tested positive for Covid-19 on 11 January 2021.

Galas state assemblyman (ADUN) Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim and his wife also tested positive in January and were treated at the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital (HSIP) in Kuala Krai, Kelantan.

The Kelantan UMNO member and his wife underwent screening after screening test after Nenggiri Assemblyman Ab Aziz Yusoff and Gua Musang UMNO Youth Chief Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani tested positive for Covid-19.

They were discharged on 20 January.

12 January – Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin (Home Minister)

Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin tested positive for Covid-19 after he underwent a Covid-19 screening on 11 January.

Despite rumours of the Bersatu politician being placed in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), his office stated that Hamzah is in stable condition and currently undergoing treatment and quarantine at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

13 January – Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin (Communications & Multimedia Deputy Minister)

Communications & Multimedia Deputy Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin tested positive for Covid-19 on the morning of 13th January and was sent to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

The deputy minister took the Covid-19 test on 11 January shortly after arriving in Kuala Lumpur from Penang.

His office released a statement assuring that the UMNO politician is in stable condition, though online sleuths couldn’t help but point out Zahidi’s poor face-mask wearing habits when the news broke.

14 January – Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (Gua Musang MP)

Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah tested positive for Covid-19 on 14 January and is undergoing treatment at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

Tengku Razaleigh, or Ku Li as he is often called, was apparently a close contact of Nenggiri assemblyman Ab Aziz Yusof who previously tested positive.

A staffer of Ku Li’s, Lokman Abdul Ghani, had previously also tested positive for the virus.

19 January – Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique (National Unity Minister)

National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing a screen test on 18th January.

A statement from the ministry said that Halimah will undergo treatment and quarantine as instructed. Her condition will be monitored by health authorities in Johor Bahru.

19 January – Datuk Seri Mohammed Nazri Abdul Aziz (Padang Rengas MP)

Datuk Seri Mohammed Nazri Abdul Aziz was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on 19th January.

He took a Covid-19 test after discovering that he had been in close contact with an infected person (UMNO blogger Datuk Zaharin Mohd Yasin) during a press conference he held in Kuala Lumpur on 12 January.

The veteran UMNO politician has since been warded at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

Nazri’s wife, Datin Seri Haflin Nazri Aziz, four-year-old son and a maid also tested positive for the coronavirus.

20 January – Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (Pasir Salak MP)

Pasir Salak Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on 20 January.

He was seen sitting side by side with Nazri Aziz, who tested positive a day before, at a press conference on 12 January where another infected individual was present.

The UMNO politician is also chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, and had entered the company’s office on 18 January for a meeting with several senior officers.
